Process: Quality Control
For music lovers, there is nothing quite like the warm, crackling sound of a vinyl record. But what many people don't realize is that making sure those records are cut properly is a delicate and very important process. That's where quality control comes in.
Vinyl cutting is an art form, and small mistakes can have a big impact on the sound quality of the final product. That's why experienced engineers take great care to ensure that each cut is as precise as possible. They also pay close attention to the overall sound of the record, making sure that it is well balanced and free of any unwanted noise.
To ensure each record is its highest level quality, we start each day by cleaning the diamonds and making a test cut record on each machine. It's a tedious, time-consuming process, but it's a great way to get a feel for how the machine is running and make the necessary adjustments is essential for keeping our machines running smoothly.
Throughout the day, we listen to each record while it's being cut, then follow up a 2nd time afterward and spot check each record on another turntable with headphones. If there are any pops or clicks, we go back and fix them. We want to make sure that every record we produce is of the highest quality possible. After all, there's nothing worse than a skip in your favorite song.
After the initial preparations are complete, we get to work cutting orders. It's a delicate process, and it requires a great deal of precision and skill. But we take pride in our work, and we're always striving to produce the highest quality records possible.
Throughout the day, we keep a close eye on our machines, making sure they're running smoothly and producing perfect cuts. It's a lot of responsibility, but it's all part of the job. And at the end of the day, we know that all our hard work has been worth it.
