A Better Way to Build Your Record
Back in the middle of the 2020, we built the first version of our vinyl design tool.
At the time, it did what we needed it to do. People were stuck at home, uploading DAYS worth of audio expecting it to fit on a single 12" - artists still wanted to release music, and we needed a way for anyone to upload audio, artwork, and build custom records online without going over the time limits and going back and forth for days.
It worked, we made a lot of records using that system.
But after 5 or 6 years, things started showing their age. The old builder was clunky in spots and honestly, it was built for a completely different version of the internet than the one we’re all using now.
So over the past few months, we rebuilt it.
Not just a visual refresh. An actual rebuild from the ground up.
What’s New?
The new design tool is faster, cleaner, and a whole lot easier to use.
You can now:
- Upload files more smoothly
- Move through the setup process faster
- Preview artwork more clearly
- Save projects more reliably
- Build records on mobile with less pain
- Spend less time fighting the tool and more time making something cool
We also redesigned the flow to better match how people actually create projects now. Most customers aren’t sitting at a desktop with perfectly organized folders anymore. They're uploading from phones, cloud drives, DMs, Dropbox links, random hard drives, and half-finished ideas at 2AM.
The old builder wasn’t built for that reality.
This one is.
Built Around Real Customer Feedback
One advantage of making thousands of custom records is that you hear everything.
Every confusing button.
Every failed upload.
Every “wait... where do I put this file?” email.
A lot of those small frustrations directly shaped this rebuild.
The goal was simple:
Make it easier for real people to turn music into physical objects.
Same Weird Company. Better Tools.
At the end of the day, we’re still the same New Jersey-based team cutting records, printing jackets, packing orders, fixing machines, recalibrating equipment, and figuring things out as we go.
The new tool just helps us do it better... which will help speed up wait times
If you used the old builder before, give the new one a shot. We think the entire process feels a lot smoother now.
And if you’ve never made a custom record before, this is probably the easiest time to start.
